Data Center Support Technician

Minimum Clearance Level: Secret

24/7 Support Day and Night Shifts available.  (Day) 6am to 6:30pm or (Night) 6pm to 6:30am

The Support Technician is responsible for maintaining the datacenter environment and ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational, and highly available through continuous proactive monitoring, customer support, and scheduled maintenance preparation. Each L1 datacenter technician is required to pass the internal L1 Datacenter Certification Test after a 2 week simulated training.

Responsibility:

  • Provide systems availability monitoring and reporting
  • Provide systems diagnostics monitoring and reporting
  • Perform Incident capture, verification, diagnostics and escalations
  • Perform data and system backups and restores
  • Perform Level I designated first call resolution
  • Maintain knowledgebase documentation
  • Timely notification of personnel call-outs
  • Facility escort services for the DC Metro area

Desired Experience:

  • 2 to 3 years of related experience
  • Experience with system monitoring (e.g.,NetIQAppManager Suite, SolarWinds)
  • Experience with Microsoft server products
  • Experience with Remedy incident management system
  • Previous experience of building and repairing PCs and Servers
  • Previous experience in a customer service orientated position preferred
  • Good knowledge of PC and Server Hardware
  • Hardworking and copes well under high pressure
  • Self-driven with the ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups
  • Ability to follow defined operational standards, understand data center critical infrastructure, and understand server operating systems
  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Beginner knowledge of Virtual Center administration
  • ITIL certification is a plus, as well as Bachelor’s Degree in a computer science related field
